Wedding inĀ Sorrento

The town of Sorrento, also called town of the Mermaids, divides the gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno. Sorrento is a worldwide renowned tourist destination.
It is located on a large tufaceous terrace overlooking the sea; Sorrento is a small and peaceful holiday resort, famous for all its villas, hotels, parks and lovely gardens and in addition for the breathtaking views and the even more characteristic citrus fruit plantations.

Sorrento is of Greek origin, but later came under Roman domination. Today the town gravitates around Tasso Square and the main street called "Corso Italia"; from there you can reach the stunning sea views through a labyrinth of small streets full of typical and colourful shops.

One of the most suggestive views can be seen from the Belvedere of the Municipal Villa, which takes in the harbour and the whole of the gulf of Naples. From the Villa, a small down hill road leads to the beaches of Marina Piccola and the harbour; from there, there are connections to Naples and to the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. It's also possible, taking the train-line (Sorrento- Naples) to reach the famous archaeological sites of Pompei, Ercolano and even Mount Vesuvio.

Sorrento attracts not only for the fragrance of oranges and lemons that remain impressed in everyone hearts, and not only because it offers daily the natural show of thousands of colours but also because it gives the chance of getting to places that are full of history.
